Lend America Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Series to hold September event at MIR

Huntington, NY - The Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association is looking ahead with anticipation to a scheduled stop at Maryland International Raceway, Sept 27. The popular heads-up doorslammer club was battered with rain early in the season, but has a caught a few breaks recently, allowing fans as well as participants to enjoy several great outings.

A return to home track, Cecil County Dragway, last month produced a first time series winner as Nick Montana drove Benny Alfonso's LOUD Energy Drink-sponsored 57 Chevy to victory over Tim O'Hare. Montana is expected to be back behind the wheel of Alfonso's 57 Chevy at the upcoming MIR meet on September 27.

Steve Cossis scored a win recently in Atco, getting past Milt Decker in the finals. The Lend America Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Series features cars from a wide variety, including, nitrous and blown Pro Mods, as well as mountain motor Pro Stocks and turbo entries

More recently, the club enjoyed an open field 2-day event at Atco. Saturday was washed away by rain, but the action on Sunday was fierce and was greeted with perfect weather. Steve Cossis scored the win, stopping Milt Decker in the finals.

The Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association is known for its wide array of race cars, competing side by side at a variety of events held on both 1/4 mile and 1/8 mile formats. Distinctively diverse, if you drive a fast doorslammer, you most likely have a place to race with the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association, a series that features both nitrous and IHRA-legal blown Pro Mods, as well as mountain motor Pro Stocks and even turbo entries.

The upcoming event at MIR on September 27, is an "Extreme" race, a club specialty which pays out a beefed-up purse, then stages a "King of the Hill" run off for even more prize money. A quick run down of an "Extreme" race is as follows: Blower cars compete against turbo entries, while nitrous-assisted 'slammers line up against mountain motor Pro Stocks. A healthy pay out of $5,000 goes to the winner of each 8-car field. An additional $3,500 is awarded to the "King of the Hill" winner, with $1,500 going to the runner-up.

Club member, Mike Ashley, is a keynote sponsor of the Northeast Outlaw Association, and is credited with making these "Extreme" races such a huge success. "Mike started out in the outlaw ranks, and fully believes in its worth as the heart and soul of drag racing," commented Angelo Angelico, director of Motorsports Marketing for Mike Ashley's Lend America Mortgage company. "We're very pleased to be involved with this series, and are exploring ways of increasing our involvement in 2009," added Angelico.
